NADA is the peak body representing the non government drug and alcohol sector across New South Wales. Their minimum data set system plays a critical role in collecting treatment service data across the state. When we were engaged, the platform was functional but clearly underperforming. It suffered from bugs, outdated reporting tools, inefficient performance and an interface that no longer met user expectations. Given the sensitivity and importance of the data being managed, reliability and security were paramount.

We were brought in to undertake a complete redevelopment and optimisation of the existing system, originally built in Microsoft .NET. Rather than applying surface level fixes, we conducted a thorough code review and re engineered core components to eliminate performance bottlenecks and stability issues. The result was a significantly more robust and reliable platform.

In addition to resolving bugs, we modernised reporting functionality to improve usability and streamline data extraction. The user interface was refined to make navigation clearer and workflows more intuitive for service providers submitting data. Security enhancements were also implemented to ensure the system meets contemporary standards for handling sensitive information.

Performance optimisation was a major focus. By improving code structure and updating key components, we achieved faster processing times and a more responsive user experience. These changes ensure the platform can continue to support the sector efficiently as reporting requirements evolve.

This project is a strong example of how strategic redevelopment can extend the life of a critical system while significantly improving performance and reliability.
