Configure Phplist for amazon ses and fix issue with Email address is not verified

I have been trying to configure phplist with amazon ses as it sounds like a perfect solution and the lists that i am sending to are growing. I installed the development version of phplist 2.11.6 and added the config.php settings for amazon ses. But no joy, it did not work. So i had quite a bit of fiddling around until i found a solution.

I searced all over phplist forums and on different blogs. Also had to do quite a bit of fiddling with config settings. Thanks to Tutul at who provide self-hosted smtp solution for his tip in the email which helped solve the problem.

Here are the config settings that ended up working

$message_envelope = ‘must be amazon verified address here’;

# AWS SES Settings

# To use a SMTP please give your server hostname here, leave it blank to use the standard

# if you want to use smtp authentication when sending the email uncomment the following

$phpmailer_smtpuser = ‘sampleBTI473ANA’; #will look like this

$phpmailer_smtppassword = ‘sampler1ufwX1V6BYobknK3TnyjP+8W’; #will look like this

There should be no other config required.

This is the explanation of what my issue was.
I am running PHPList development version 2.11.6 on localhost, i have configured amazon SES in config file and connect via SMTP.  I get an error after sending – failed.  the sender is verified and i have production account also.

My log file is below.
